Completed Projects.
-
Investigated how climate variability and conflict interact to reshape coastal fishing economies in Yemen. Used satellite imagery to track algal blooms, sea surface temperature, and ecosystem shifts, combined with on-ground surveys coordinated with government officials and the UK FCDO. Developed a vessel detection model using neural networks that classifies small-vessel port activity,
-
Led World Bank climate vulnerability and migration analysis to inform the Bank's development funding and resource allocation in Afghanistan. Built flood prediction models using deep learning and integrated GPS phone data to map climate shock displacement patterns.
-
Analyzed Afghan migration trends during the Taliban takeover using GPS phone data to assist international humanitarian action. Used machine learning to analyze thousands of ground based reports and satellite imagery for observation of night lights and road networks.
-
Predictive modeling of species-specific coral bleaching and recovery trends in Hawaiian reefs. Modeled how environmental conditions drive variation in reef health across sites in Maui, and assessed the downstream policy implications for reef conservation.
